Alternative Fall Break - Confronting Inner-City Poverty in Cincinnati

Thursday, October 10th from 9:00am to Saturday, October 12th, 2019 7:00pm (ET)

About

Participants will spend 3 days/2 nights during Fall Break working alongside social service agencies in Cincinnati to advance their missions. Programming will focus on building a better future for those who suffer from addiction, live in poverty, are alone, and on the fringes of society. Organizations the group will assist include: Be Concerned, Wesley Chapel Mission Center, New Life Furniture, and more!

This short-term opportunity is open to all majors and no prior volunteer or work experience is necessary. However, this trip is a great way to make connections between what you're learning in the classroom to real-world settings, while also making new friends and visiting a beautiful city. All participants must come with an open mind, a positive attitude, and the desire to engage in discussions around issues of poverty, homelessness, power/privilege dynamics, and other topics that carry weight.

Total cost is $75, which includes food, lodging at the Tau House with Franciscan Ministries, transportation, and any siteseeing or cultural activities. $25 deposit due at registration to hold your place. *Space is limited* Final payment due September 27.
