Join me at Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School to assist with fruit collection in the cafeteria during lunchtime! This program is part of our overall food waste prevention initiative. Last semester, we collected just under 500 pounds of fruit! Most of the time, we try to redirect this food to be placed in the hands of hungry students. We can also offer this produce to the Family and Consumer Science teachers to give them free fruit to use in food labs. There are several other ways to keep this food from being thrown in the trash and wasted, so please come out and help create a more sustainable environment for these kids!
