About

“Our Congregate Senior Center Program supports seniors who are able to come to a center to participate in activities and eat lunch together. We serve 1600 individuals at 16 locations across Travis County. The program helps reduce social isolation and loneliness while providing an important source of nutrition to our clients. Seniors are provided with shelf stable emergency meal bags annually in preparation for inclement weather as well as during holiday closures.” The group activity that is offered is a meal bag assembly. Volunteers will place all meal components into a Ziploc bag, which is then boxed and later distributed out to various senior centers.

NOTE: If you have a peanut allergy, please let us know in advance. There are individual peanut butter packets in the snack bags. Having an allergy, unless life threatening, will not prevent a participant from volunteering at this location; there are plenty of additional tasks that can be done.

**Please reserve this site for organizations that are interested in volunteering as a large group**

Attire:
Please dress casually and comfortably. The kitchen can be slightly cool in the morning, so you may want to dress in layers. Closed-toe shoes are the only requirement.
