Say Her Name! Working for Social Justice at the Intersection of Race and Gender Thursday, February 11th, 4:00-5:30
Women of color have been disproportionately affected by police violence, but their stories receive little media attention compared to their male counterparts. The Say Her Name! movement seeks to make the fight for racial justice more inclusive of the experiences of women. The campaign brings to light the stories of women of color who have been killed by police and have experienced gender-specific forms of police violence. An all-women panel includes professors, community organizers, and gender and racial justice activists.
