To connect the public and the Ransom Center’s gallery space, we need warm and welcoming people to greet visitors, pass along important information, and point them in the right direction. If you want to be part of the team that fosters this positive gallery experience, apply to be a Visitor Services Volunteer! Work closely with Ransom Center staff, spend time in close quarters with our exhibitions, and get to know the wide array of visitors who come from around the world to experience the Center firsthand. General Role
Visitor Services volunteers are the first point of contact for guests to the Ransom Center’s galleries. The primary role of these highly-visible volunteers is two-fold: ensure visitors have the information needed for a positive experience, and actively support Ransom Center gallery initiatives such as email capture and survey collection.


Time Commitment
Position requires a consistently-scheduled, 3-hour weekly commitment from January 2018 through December 2019. Weekday and weekend shifts are available. Volunteers must attend three training sessions throughout January and February 2019.


Job Responsibilities
-Greet and orient visitors to the Harry Ransom Center

-Field questions and share information about the Ransom Center’s collections, exhibitions, and programs

-Proactively collect surveys and email addresses

-Ensure Visitor Desk is organized and well

-stocked with museum literature

Expectations
-Interest in engaging with the public

-Awareness of exhibitions, upcoming programs, and special events

-Enforcement of gallery policies and protocols

-Cooperation with staff and guards to ensure all visitors’ needs are met
