The 2020 Presidential Election was my first time voting for president. I chose to originally vote during Fall Break for early voting. I woke up around 5 AM to leave Fayetteville and traveled to vote at my local community center. The overall process was quick, I stood in line and tried my best to socially distance from others in the process and had to occasionally glare at people to provide more space. Upon entering, I had to fill out paperwork because there was some issue with my registration, but after some phone calls, the voting staff situated me to vote. To vote, we had to touch a screen and I was worried I had to use my fingers, but luckily they had push pens. I was going to try and take my pen home with me, but I thought it was probably dirty and threw it back in the pen recycling bin. Moving on to candidates, I only voted for people who were Democrats or Libertarian. After leaving and doing research, I feel I should not have voted for the Libertarian candidates, but they got an extra vote that day. My main priority was to get future President Joe Biden and future Vice President Kamala Harris into office. In his four years of office, Trump has devasted the black and brown community. Ranging from concentration camps, poor handling of COVID-19 to denying the Black Lives Matter Movement, he has dismissed the lives of the minority community of the United States as worthless, creating a society where people can act blatantly racist like it was several generations ago. Although Joe Biden was not my initial choice to represent the Democratic party, I feel he will work to the best of his capabilities while in office. Being a college student, I look forward to him waiving ten thousand dollars of school debt.

Virtual Cards for Front-line Workers and COVID Patients

The National Soceity of Black Engineers hosted this event to allow myself and others to show our appreciation for those risking their lives on the front lines as well as those who are actively fighting Covid-19. Using Canva, I was able to create 'thank you' and 'get well' cards to those who need them most. What I appreciated most from this event is that I was able to provide a smile on someone's face and hopefully make their day somewhat better, despite performing such services virtually. I recommend others to participate in any similar volunteer experiences! Thank you for providing me with this opportunity.

    Annual SPS Fall Physics Lab

Great Experience! A friend and I helped direct kids to the lab as well as set up experiments for experimentation and fun! In particular, I helped/learned about electromagnetism through straws, wires and nails through basic principles of physics.

The program focused on academic professionals describing ways to become more involved in research regardless of a students major. The speakers described how we could conduct research and find mentors who could help facilitate our journey.

The program was directed by Dr. Bryan Hagger. It was a good experience. Engineering Honors is department specific due to ABET accreditation. Dr. Haggar lead a student discussion, and it was interesting on the ways an honors thesis could be conducted. Some students take the traditional route by presenting a thesis while others explain the knowledge they gained from their internship experience.
