We went over future plans for Food Recovery and how to make it known on campus.
My hospital experience was different from the other times I volunteered. My unit had two rapid responses and two nurses and few PCAs were left on the floor.
Today at first my module was empty and only had 10 patients to look after but, after 10:30am almost 12+ admits came from clove lake nursing home. I was busy setting up each room with toiletries.
I finally got my flu shot and I was able to work without a mask. Today was very gloomy though because 5 patient who were DNR passed and I had to request pastors to come visit the families. I as well provided them tissues and water.
Today I had to wear a mask on my face because on December 1, the flu shot expires. It was kind of difficult to breathe wearing the masks for 4 hours. I did a simple task for nurses today assisting with the droplet and contact patients since I already had protection on.
Many transport patients can in today from Med Surgery 3A from the other side of the floor. I assisted the cleric in charge filing and making new binders for the incoming patients. Afterward, I gave each of the 5 new patients the necessities such as a pitcher of water, socks, toiletries, tissues, and bedpan.
In the all Bonner seminar, we met with the President's wife, Jane. She was very interested in meeting with us because we are a national program. We got it our placement groups and explained to her what each of us does in groups on Staten Island.
